A sandbox without a lid fills with rain and cats.
The useful plan is a box with a hinged cover that can double as a seat. Skip plans that are only four boards in a square.
- About 4×4 feet is enough for two children. Bigger is harder to cover.
- Drill a few drain holes and set it on gravel, not bare dirt.
- Use a liner so the sand stays in the box.
