Project guide
A raised bed is a box that has to hold wet soil.
Four feet wide means you can reach the middle from either side. Longer than 8 feet needs a cross-brace or the sides bow.
- Two boards high, about 11 inches, is enough for most vegetables.
- Cedar lasts longer than untreated pine. Avoid old railroad ties.
- Corners need screws into a block, not nails into the end grain only.
